It is official – my favorite cupcake shop in Chicago is MOLLY’S CUPCAKES.
While I love modern and sleek; I love punk and attitude; I love girly and chic – above all, the brothers at Molly’s Cupcakes have figured it out best. It is all in the details – they speak to every bit of me that loves design, nostalgia and cupcakes – all under one roof. From the swing set bar, to the sprinkles station, the displays of childhood toys, the tin ceilings, vintage lunch box collection, the mix and match furniture, and the great guys who run this shop. I met one of the brothers, and I wish I had asked his name – I would love to tell him thanks for being so generous with his shop and to me. He had even heard of my blog! Cool! Another bit of information I love about this place is that they are open late – like a bar – and are apparently very popular after the sun goes down. If I lived in Lincoln Park, I would be parked at this place all the time.
They had a huge selection of beautiful cupcakes. Some had goodies sprinkled on top, others had gorgeous fruit perched in the middle.
I asked which was the most popular and I was introduced to “Ron Bennington's I’ve Got My Own Cupcake” cupcake - named after a long-time friend. It was a combination of peanut butter and chocolate and was rich beyond belief. My mother would have LOVED it. I know I did.

Oh crap - I haven't been to Chicago in almost 2 years (my hometown), but went for a long weekend in late April. Wish I had these reviews! Have saved the sites however for the next visit. Thanks for the news.

The Ron Bennington is out of this world. Just like his radio show (Ron & Fez, noon to 3, XM 202) it's first class.

The name Ron Bennington's I’ve Got My Own Cupcake is so funny if you know the show. When any topic gets discussed like iPods someone of course calls and mater-of-factly drops "Well I have an iPod and" Ron gets offended and deadpans "So I've got my own Radio show" It's always funny.
