FOO-reakin' Awesome 105th!

This week begins the celebration for the Harley-Davidson 105th anniversary. Several hundred thousand bikers will ascend upon the state, and Milwaukee in particular. Other than cheese, beer and the Green Bay Packers, there is nothing more important to the state of Wisconsin than HD. Five years ago, for the 100th, there was a HUGE, I mean HUMONGOUS hoopla over who the mystery performer for the birthday celebration might be. People speculated for weeks...The Rolling Stones? John Mellencamp? Bruce Springsteen? Pink Floyd reunion? Seriously...this was THE talk of the town.

The day of the show, 40,000 bikers and rockers alike gathered on the Milwaukee lake front for the unveiling. Opening acts were The Doobie Brothers, Tim McGraw and Kid Rock and it was awesome. I was there. Then, finally, the sun had gone down, the lights went out and some tripadelic syntho music began....holy sh1t, was it really Pink Floyd??? NO! It was Elton John! Elton freakin John, at a Harley event. The place began to empty out like a stink bomb had just gone off...and in a way, it had. After that, the new buzz around town was about WHO at HD lost their job over that booking faux pas. Yeah, Elton is a classic in his own right, but wrong audience! I am sure that had an ego blow for him like no other.

To make it up to the city of Milwauke and Harley fans alike, the year, HD is putting together a weekend that is going to kick the perverbial ass of the 100th. Headliners this year ARE Bruce Springsteen and the Foo Fighters. And people are stoked. No, seriously, I AM FOO-REAKING STOKED. I have mentioned in the past that there are very few things out there that can compete with my love for the cupcake, but Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters fit the bill. So, finally, an excuse to make up some Foo-friendly cupcakes...complete with my darling Dave's awesome mug. These are chocolate and vanilla (mixed with orange dye) with simple white frosting, HD logo sticks and homemade Foo and Bruce 105th flags. The gang at work will get a big kick out of these tomorrow.

This friday I will be one of those screaming freaks out on the lake front showing my love for the Foo. I am not going to Springsteen...yet... but the week is young and you never know what will transpire. Stay tuned...next weekend I will be taking my camera everywhere and I will take some shots of the bikes and the like to share with the cupcake world.

Please, girlfriend, do it for me. OK, maybe he is a bit older than those Fooo whatever people but whatever... he will always be cooler.

Sing it as loud as you can for me...

"Tramps like us, baby we were born to RUN!!!"

Just listened to it this morning, on the hardest part of my run. The Boss kicks ass.
