ICM:Science Project

We all had such HIGH HOPES for our wild and crazy science projects. Memories of Peter Brady and his spewing volcano came to EVERYONES mind when we came up with this challenge.

ICM:Science Project

I knew I had a massive, overbooked and under rested week ahead of me, so I decided early on that I would not bake, but just be clever with a classic Hostess cupcake. My presentation, the HOSTESS:DECONSTRUCTED is a classic Hostess cupcake dissected on a true dissection tray (thanks to American Science and Surplus). I included Latin translation of the various goodies like cake, cream filling, frosting and the signature swirl.

Jeff, Jeff, Jeff. I was POSITIVE this man would blow something up tonight. Instead he foreshadowed some legal issues and verified with the City that he would face a massive fine if caught actually launching cupcakes, a la a spud gun, into the Milwaukee River. He did, however; create a classic science class-style poster sharing his idea.

As a last minute attempt, he thought it would be cool to show what a high-speed drop would do with a Cupcake Inertia attempt. Watch the video above to find out.

When Katie walked in with a boombox in hand we were not sure what to expect. Based on a comic Brian Regan's science project routine; she presented her Cup of Dirt Cupcake, complete with worms!

Our final contestant, a surprise entry, was our newest Iron Cupcake Milwaukee member, Liz! And thank God she came! She brought some true credibility to the idea of SCIENCE PROJECT. We have all either tried or watched on the internet or heard of the Mentos and Pepsi project. She took it a step further by hollowing out a cupcake and creating the Mentos and Pepsi Cupcake. LIZ WAS OUR WINNER TONIGHT!!! So excited to have her.

Oh yeah, did I mention that I learned that I have to keep my camera horizontal for the videos to read properly?? Ha! Next time!!!!

Our next challenge is Nov. 10 and the theme is THANKSGIVING. Anything and any flavor you might associate with the holiday is welcome. If you would like to be a baker, please email me directly.
