IRON CUPCAKE MKE: Cereal

Iron Cupcake Milwaukee:Cereal Contenders
Breakfast anyone?? When you walk into a grocery store, there are boxes upon boxes of different cereals. Yet, somehow, out of 10 cupcake entries, we had three Reese's Puff Cereal Cupcakes and two Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cupcakes. I have never even heard of the Reese's cereal and have never tasted either one!

We had a couple of new bakers join us tonight! Katie, who has been a judge for several challenges took a shot at it with her Crunch Berry Cereal Cupcake.

<span class=
Katie brought along her cousin, Marki, as her personal taste tester and provider of moral support.

Tonight was a first visit and first entry from Meghan from Madison! She and Kyle read about Iron Cupcake Milwaukee while reading the CTTC blog and popped over to this one and decided to join. Boy are we glad she did, she brought some smack talk and a great attitude. We also had a visit from Anne, a.k.a. Czeltic Girl and her friend Bridget, and yet they somehow managed to elude the camera....tonight.

<span class=
Her Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cupcake was beautiful, her presentation rocked, and the cinnamon flavor was awesome; right down to the edible cinnamon spoon. I definitely look forward to seeing her at another challenge in the future.

Miss Hollywood, my girl Ashley, did a rockin' presentation of her Rice Krispy Treat Cupcake.

<span class=
I loved the Rice Crispy "wrapper" and the snap, crackle, pop flags. Topped with marshmallow fluff, this certainly fit the bill.

<span class=
I owe Brendan an apology, I accidentally deleted his Reese's Puff Cupcake from the camera...but I did get his other entries. The Lucky Charms Cupcakes had neon marshmallow topping and was totally eye-catching and fun.

<span class=
Brendan's Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cupcake had an awesome cinnamon swirl frosting that made you just want to swipe your finger through it.

<span class=
Jeff also got his peanut butter on with a Reese's Puff Cupcake, which was super decadent.

<span class=
His other was the brilliant interpretation of the notorious cereal fresh off the pages of a Calvin and Hobbes comic strip. The Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bomb cupcakes were filled with raw sugar and topped with Starbucks Liquor Ganache...can you say caffeinated sugar high??

When we decided to do a cereal challenge, which was Ma Ploy's suggestion, I knew IMMEDIATELY which I would make. Forever and a day, my favorite cereal has been Apple Jacks. Which is what I did. I will post more tomorrow about it, as it is worth the story.

In case you haven't had enough Reese's Puff cupcakes, don't give up just yet. As, Susie of Susie's Homemade not only took home the crown tonight, but did competing against 2 other cupcakes using the same cereal. I think her artistic cupcake that looked like a bowl with cereal in it was just too tempting for anyone to pass up.

Congrats to Susie. Just goes to show, once again, that this is all about having a good time with likeminded folks and how everyone wins at Iron Cupcake Milwaukee!

What a fun challenge! Reese's Peanut Butter Puffs is actually my favorite cereal, but my husband won't let me buy it because he says it is more like a dessert than breakfast. Boo!
