Milwaukee Gallery Takes the Cupcake!

I am definitely paying this show a visit. Article comes from our own local paper, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

You think you know a cupcake. You think you know a pair of peppers, a bottle of makeup, an artichoke or a shell.

Then artist Clare Malloy corrects you. Her spare paintings of everyday objects have a strange timelessness to them. Suddenly that cupcake you thought you knew and loved is sporting a bit of drama, a bit of poignancy.

Despite their simplicity, this is no simple task. Her artworks, like this one, "Cupcake," are worth a peek. They've just gone on view at the Tory Folliard Gallery, 233 N. Milwaukee St.
