She loved the color orange. Goofy toys. Fine design. Starbucks runs. Plaid shorts. T-Shirts. The sun. Days off. Swearing like a sailor. Sporty cars. All things Kitsch. But, most of all, she loved her partner, Kerri (shown above with our friends Mark and Todd.)

My friend Ardyth lost her battle with that F*CKING Ovarian Cancer last week. These are some cupcakes I made for her early in my cupcake life. For a birthday that seems like a lifetime ago. She would have been 50 on May 4th this year. At least she will never be "old". On one hand her end was swift and immediate on the other it made 5 years seems like 5 decades. Ovarian Cancer is a demon among all monsters. I pray I never see it do to another friend what it did to her.

Take a moment and visit Kelly Ripa's special Virtual Cake Sale on the Electrolux website where you can send an e-cake for free; for each cake sent they will donate $1 to Ovarian Cancer Reseach Fund.

I am so sorry to hear about Ardyth. My grandfather lost his battle with prostate cancer last month. Cancer is like the monster in the closet - we don't really understand it yet.
My thoughts are with Kerri and all your friends.
