It has taken nearly a year to recover from our super awesome, mega-sized Cupcake Clash, but we couldn't shut'er down without one last hurrah. Just when you thought we had baked our last cupcake, the fine folks at BOSWELL BOOKS have asked us to get together to bring our friends KAREN TACK & ALAN RICHARDSON of Hello, Cupcake! and What's New, Cupcake? fame back to Wisconsin on the heals of the release of their January 2012 project: CUPCAKES, COOKIES and PIE, OH MY!

Wisconsin Eye-Candy Challenge: Wisconsin is FULL of iconic landmarks and sports teams. Whether its House on the Rock or the Green Bay Packers, there is SO MUCH TO SEE! Utilizing all of the fun tips and techniques that Karen and Alan have taught the country, whip up a creation that portrays the look and style of a truly unique Wisconsin landmark or icon. Think candy, cookies, crusts and more to tell your story - oh, and a special challenge...NO FONDANT ALLOWED. One more thing, don't forget to make it taste good as well! Be creative, this challenge will become the ultimate Wisconsin stay-cation in one afternoon.

IronCupcake Cares! For our final competition, we will be making a donation to none other than The Pablove Foundation. The mission of The Pablove Foundation is to fund pediatric cancer research and advances in treatment, educate and empower cancer families, and improve the quality of life for children living with cancer through hospital play, music and arts programs. The Pablove Foundation is named after Pablo Thrailkill Castelaz, the son of Jo Ann Thrailkill and Jeff Castelaz and the little brother of Grady Gallagher. Pablo was six years old when he lost his valiant yearlong battle with bilateral Wilms Tumor, a rare form of childhood cancer. The reason that this foundation is so close to IronCupcake:Milwaukee is because our very own Too Much Metal Fred is close friends with Pablo's family and has been a vital part of the success of the Pablove Foundation. What better reason than to support him. Imbued with his spirit and inspired by his strength, Pablove is dedicated to the daily, global fight against childhood cancer and the suffering that comes in its wake. Be sure to check out the great article from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel about the Pablove Foundation from October 10, 2011.

CELEBRITY Autographed COOKBOOK Silent Auction! In addition to our usual donation, we will also be running a silent auction of autographed celebrity cookbooks. ALL proceeds from the silent auction will also benefit the Pablove Foundation. Our list is growing everyday, but will will have titles from Buddy Valastro, Rick Bayless, Alton Brown, John Besh, Hugh Acheson, Joanna Fluke, Jacques Torres, Andrew Zimmern and more! Stay tuned for more confirmed titles.

The Man Who Changed The World

"I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know," Jobs wrote in his letter of resignation. "Unfortunately, that day has come."

...Rest in Peace

Creepy is Cool

To know me is to love me...especially when it comes to the slightly creepy, yet still endearing things of our childhood. I love doll heads. I love Day of the Dead. I love black cats. I love devils, as long as they are kind of cute, too. Naturally, with that in mind, it would make perfect sense that I love Halloween decor. I'm not talking about that stuff that people do to turn their property into a graveyard, or door decorations that scream at you when you get home from work. Just groovy little bits to integrate into your daily life.

NOT cute.

cute.

My house will go without a spec of holiday decoration all year...until Halloween comes around. I don't have a ton, but what I do have just makes me smile. I have not bought anything this year, but here are a few things that would pique my interests for sure...

For real? Who WOULDN'T want to scoop out some strawberry-spinach salad with some boney fingers...hell, I would use these all year long! 19.99/pair at World Market.

In. Love. with these candles. I just wish they were bigger. Those spiral eyes and just calling to be in my place. A little retro, a little spooky and totally cute! 4.99/each, also from World Market.

Back in the day (read 2 years ago), when I kept all kinds of cool crap at my desk at work, you could be sure that I would pick these little guys up. Seriously? Little skeletons prancing across your outline for your next big project, makes perfect sense to me! $4/each at Pier 1 Imports.

Hey, they are the Pink Flamingos of the fall season. We had one of these when I was growing up. It lit up. I loved it. Now many years later, I really want a couple to put on my balcony to stare out at the town below. Who knew that to properly google them, you needed to know the term BLOW MOLDING? Well, you do and now I know when I start yearning for a Frosty the Snowman come Christmas time. $33.74/amazon.com.
