Party of 1

I am kind of pissed that Saveur magazine has been spying on me, and didn't even give me credit as their inspiration! Oh well, at least it wasn't that damn Rachael Ray!

The Teal Cat Project

Isa Chanda Moskowitz - why do you know that name? Oh come on, she is the part of the brains and creativity behind the Post Punk Kitchen and all of those awesome vegan cookbooks like Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World and Veganomicon. Well, she and a few friends have started a new venture that combines all things cute, creative and charitable - right up our alley here in the land of IronCupcake. Enter the TEAL CAT PROJECT.
Well, we love thrifting and crafting. On an outing to scour Omaha’s many thrift stores for kitty cat tchotchkes to use as centerpieces for a fundraiser (guess what, it was a fundraiser for cats!), we thought of selling the centerpieces to raise a little extra cash. And then we thought it would be a good idea if we could make the kitties just a little bit cooler in some way. And then somehow, in a fevered dream, it all made sense. We spray paint them. Teal is cool. We make each one collectible, like a Cabbage Patch Kid. The kids go crazy. We give all the money to cat rescue groups. This is who we are.

I am new to learning of the Teal Cat Project, but I can assure you that I will always have my eyes open for kitties to add to their litter. And...eventually...get a teal cat to call my own. The collect kitty tchotchkies, spray 'em teal and sell them to raise funds for a variety of cat rescue programs. Love it. Got a kitty to give? Do it now. Want one to call your own? You can do that, too!
